Read Tips With Discression!
Sunday, January 20th, 2008I just saw this “tip” today (from a source that I probably shouldn’t disclose here).
Are you bringing rain with your drives?
If your drives are more like pop-ups, the probable cause is that you are coming into the ball at an angle that is too steep. Steep angles cause the ball to spin quickly off the face and shoot straight up. To fix this problem, start your takeaway by bringing the dub back slowly and close to the ground. On the down swing, feel your right elbow tuck into your side in order to keep the club at a wide arc as it approaches the ball. Practice these little swing changes and kiss the pop-ups goodbye.
Please read tips like this with discretion. This is an example of why I sometimes disagree with Pro Golf Instruction Tips.
If your drives are high, you are swinging outside-in (or simply swinging below the golf ball, which will show up as a compression mark on top of your driver). There is no other way to swing that causes this problem – at least not that I have seen.
So, in my opinion, this tip not only compounds the problem, but the cause is never addressed, and now you have even more to think about on the golf course.
As with all tips, use discretion. Think them through. Are they right for you? - and most importantly, do they make perfect sense?

In the very first lesson of Easy 80 Golf – we solve this problem in a manner that you never have to think about. And, if you follow our swing instruction, this problem will simply never exist.
Happy Golfing,
