A Great Drill For Transition

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

A great drill to learn to start your transition from the top of your backswing is the “Drop Down Drill”. It will help you obtain added power and accuracy in your swing.

To do this drill:

Turn back to the top of your backswing, making certain that you have turned back as far as you safely can. Try to get your shoulders turned 90 degrees away from the target with your hips no more than 45 degrees from the target. (If you can’t get all the way to this position, just do the best you can.)

Then, practice dropping your hands straight down a couple of inches, before you start to turn your shoulders - do it slowly at first - just relax and let it happen. Then do it faster as it becomes more comfortable.

This will stop you from “spinning out” or “coming over the top” on your downswing.

Do this drill a few times each day, and you will soon see your golf shots get longer and straighter.

Note: In Easy 80 Golf, we teach this drill without anyone realizing it. This is one of the beauties of our method. Once you have learned Lessons # 1 and # 5, you will do it naturally - without thinking about it.

Great Golfing,

Bob
